On this date back in 1882, Queen Victoria was very nearly assassinated by Roderick Maclean! He tried to shoot her while she was boarding a train in Windsor, but thankfully the queen escaped!
The Martha Washington opened its doors for the first time.
March 2nd was also the date that the Martha Washington Hotel opened its doors to the public back in 1903. The hotel was opened in New York City and was initially created with the idea of only catering to women!
King Kong first ascended the big screen!
Back in 1933, King Kong made its premiere in New York City! The movie was directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack and Merian C. Cooper, and has been adapted multiple times since.
JFK made a big nuclear announcement.
On March 2nd 1962, President John F. Kennedy announced that the United States would begin nuclear testing above ground once again. He claimed that the decision had been made in response to the Soviet Union's nuclear tests that were a threat to international peace.
The Beatles brushed up on their acting chops.
In 1964, the Beatles started filming "A Hard Day's Night." It also happened to be the day that member George Harrison met his future wife, Pattie Boyd!
The theater’s alive with the Sound of Music!
In 1965, The Sound of Music launched at premiere! It went on to become one of the most successful musicals of all time and is still referenced today!

Find your favorite old clothes and try revamping them, or refurbish some of your old, unloved pieces and make them look brand new. You could also head to your local thrift store and find some incredible classic pieces to fill your home.
World Teen Mental Wellness Day
Mental wellness is of the utmost importance, but sadly, many of us still take it for granted. Today is the day to check in on the teens in your life and see how they're doing! Reach out to someone and let them know that you care. Lending a patient and empathetic ear will do more than you know!
