Anne Boleyn was executed.
Back in 1526, today marked the day that English King Henry VIII’s second wife, Anne Boleyn, was beheaded at the Tower of London. She was executed under charges of adultery, incest, and treason.
Mary Queen of Scots was arrested.
Following a long feud between the two, on this date back in 1568, English Queen Elizabeth I arrested Mary Queen of Scots. Interestingly enough, this was the very date her mother was executed, as mentioned above!
The circus is in town!
May 19th is a very important day for fans of circus and entertainment history, as this date back in 1884 marked the unveiling of the Ringling Bros. Circus. This Wisconsin-based troupe would evolve massively over the years, with it eventually transforming into the world-famous Barnum & Bailey Circus, the subject of “The Greatest Showman.”
It was a happy birthday for a certain Mr. President!
In 1962, today was the date that famous actress Marilyn Monroe sang "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" to John F. Kennedy. She sang it to him in front of 150,000 people in Madison Square Garden, New York City.
Harry and Meghan tied the knot.
On May 19th, 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would marry at Windsor Castle - in a ceremony that did away with much of the ceremony of Royal gatherings of centuries past. While Harry and Meghan remain united, their conflicts with the Royal Family have been widely documented both on TV and through Harry’s autobiography, “Spare,” a 2023 best-seller.

By the time May rolls around, we should start getting plenty of sunny weather up in the Northern Hemisphere - and May 19th is a great day to make the most of the sun if you can. Why not go for a walk, a bike ride, or a picnic with loved ones? Spring and summer always seem to fade so quickly - make the most of the rays while you can!
