It is believed that on this date in 526 AD, the Antioch earthquake took place in the Byzantine Empire, now where Syria would be. The earthquake killed 200,000 people according to ancient records – which would have made it one of the deadliest natural disasters of all time.
The November Uprising started emerging.
In 1830, the November Uprising took place – it was an armed rebellion against Russia's rule in Poland that many also refer to as the Polish-Russian war. This conflict would rally forward until October 1831, after which tens of thousands of lives were lost on the battlefield.

In 1877, multi-faceted US inventor Thomas Edison demonstrated his hand-cranked phonograph for the first time. The invention changed the world – we certainly wouldn’t have music streaming without Edison’s record player!

The experiment demonstrated a strange paradox – that if a cat is shut in a box with a lid, how can we be sure it still exists? Beyond the meowing, of course! Video games made their home debut.
One of the very first home video games celebrates its birthday today – as Pong, the famous bat-and-ball game, was released by Atari all the way back in 1972. It’s hard to believe gaming as a hobby is more than 50 years old!
