On this day
The birth of the remote control took place!
In 1906, Leonardo Torres Quevedo successfully demonstrated the Telekino at Bilbao, building a boat from the shore in front of a huge crowd! It was indeed considered to be the birth of the remote control – and now you know who to thank for not having to get up and change the TV channel manually!
Henry Ford changed the workweek for good.
In 1926, motoring mogul Henry Ford announced that there would, from then on, be an 8-hour, 5-day work week for the workers at the Ford Motor Company. For many of us, that is still the case for workers across the West – though there are continued rumblings about a four-day workweek quietly emerging!
Special Days Falling on September 25thSeptember 25th is a great day for celebrations and commemorations for people all over the world! Check out these holidays taking place today.
International Ataxia Awareness Day
If you are not familiar with Ataxia, it is a word used to describe a group of disorders. People with ataxia generally have difficulties walking, speaking, and swallowing. It is a rare disorder, which is why it is so important to spread awareness about it today – make sure to read up on the condition, and to learn how you could make a difference, even if it is a small donation to help toward research.
World Dream Day
Dreams link us all, whether awake or asleep. We all dream every night, even if we don’t always remember them! Some of us aspire to realize our dreams, understand them, or just share and enjoy how strange they can be! But why do we dream? What do our dreams mean? Today is the perfect day to find out – why not start keeping your own dream journal, for example?
World Pharmacists Day
Without pharmacists, where would we be? Probably all sick and bedbound! And today is the perfect day to thank pharmacists and medicine providers for all that they do. So, head to your local pharmacy, and be sure to show your appreciation for their hard work and dedication to your well-being!
